Good Luck Zombies!

Are you not convinced about the whole ‘zombie thing’? Do you wonder if the undead are really just sleepwalkers who forgot to take a shower? Perhaps you need to check out Zombies on the loose.

This easy-to-read non-fiction book discusses voodoo zombies, the origins of zombies, zombie science and has an account of a Haitian man who claims “I was a zombie.” At only 32 pages in length, with some great pictures, this mostly serious, sometimes humorous book is a great, informative read.

Here is a little from the book:

Voodoo is an old African religion. Voodoo sorcerers called bokors create zombies. Bokors say they use magic to bring zombies back from the dead. The zombies do everything the bokor tells them to do… How do bokors turn people into zombies? 1) First, the bokor feeds a living person zombie powder – without the victim knowing. Zombie powder is made from puffer fish, toads, poisonous tree frogs and dead human bodies. 2) The person dies and is buried. 3) The bokor digs up the body… (pp. 11-12)

If you want to know the next steps, you’ll have to read it!

As part of our recent awesome ReadFest competition, we asked readers to write short reviews. People who submitted reviews scored an extra entry into the ReadFest competition. It certainly paid off for this reviewer, because she won a prize! Below is an excellent review by Brianna aged 12, who LOVES the The Morganville Vampire series!

Ghost town is the 9th book in the Morganville Vampires series about vampires and humans trying to live together in harmony. Claire Danvers and her friends, Eve Rosser, Michael Glass and her boyfriend Shane Collins, are getting into trouble yet again. When Eve decides to help a friend in need, she goes along with Cory to a rave while Shane and Claire go to the drive-in movie theatre. At first things are fine, but then they start to turn bad, then worse. The party that Eve and Cory are at is attacked by vampires and Shane, Claire and Michael run to the rescue. In the end, all four of them are safe but Claire killed a vampire. Even though she didn’t mean it she gets an awful punishment that she must complete to see her friends or family ever again…
As usual, this Morganville Vampire book is AMAZING!! At the party, everything is so tense as events start to take a turn for the worse. Even when I was reading it I was tense!! At the council meeting I felt bad for Claire. I felt bad for a character in a book. When Claire completes her task, I felt her joy too. That is how good Rachel Caine is at writing this series. I LOVE THESE BOOKS!!!!!

Check out Rachel Caine’s official site here. She’s on twitter as @rachelcaine and her Facebook fan page is here.

Thanks Brianna for the great review! Keep them coming :) Remember, we are always looking for reviews of books, CDs, movies, anything, so get in contact and get published on TEENCLICK!
